To create a porous and therapeutic space that promotes the residents' feeling of home in Apex Harmony Lodge (AHL) to build a sense of belonging and familiarity in residents. This can be done by avenues of creative stimuli and forms of biophilia through the arts and the integration of greenery.  "

SITE: Apex Harmony Lodge

CLIENT PROFILE: Residents in AHL (Assisted Living, Supported Living, Tender Loving Care)

MAIN TARGET USERS: Assisted Living (AL), Supported Living (SL)

 

This project focused on dementia residents in Apex Harmony Lodge (AHL). The project aims to have residents living in a naturalized and normalised environment, where vibrant interactions and continuous learning about nature and the community take place to empower each resident to live well. There are three stages of dementia: Mild, Moderate, and Severe Dementia.

There were many dementia-friendly measures taken: Different colours used to indicate the spaces and only uses partition walls to maximizes wind flow and a simpler footpath for dementia residents

​

The programs introduced are: Pottery Studio, Art workshop (with mini art gallery), Food Prep area, Dishwashing area, Lounge area (with stage), Flower Arrangement workshop, Garden/Urban farm, Indoor and outdoor dining area, and Laundry area.

El's Sanctuary

A mini project for a toilet that shares Apex Harmony Lodge with the Biophilic Aether. A porous and therapeutic space that allows residents and staff alike to feel soothing and calm when entering the toilet, which consists of beautiful lighting and aesthetic features. Signages and colors (pink and blue) were used in the washroom to aid PWDs.
